Services where a real coach trains you live on video, compared by price per session, trial and fit.
Full disclosure: this guide is by HipTrain, and we're on the list. We've tried to be fair anyway. Every fact about another service comes from what that company or a named review site publishes, and the links are at the bottom. If another service suits you better, we'll tell you.
A live online personal trainer is a real coach on a video call with you, at a set time, watching your form and adjusting as you go. Most big fitness apps don't work this way. The services below do, and their prices per session vary a lot, from about $14 to about $100.
Is it really live? Many services say "personal training" but mean an app plan plus messages. Future and Trainwell, two of the best-known names, coach mostly through the app. Future does not advertise live sessions, and Trainwell is mostly app-based with some calls. They're good products, just a different thing. If you want someone watching you move in real time, look for scheduled 1-on-1 video sessions.
Price per session, not per month. Live services price in very different ways: per session, per pack, a monthly plan with a set number of sessions, or unlimited. Divide the monthly price by how many sessions you'll actually do. That number is the fair comparison.
Same coach, an easy trial, HSA / FSA. Seeing the same coach each time means they learn your body and your limits. A free or cheap first session lets you test the fit. And an HSA or FSA can let you pay with pre-tax dollars where the service is eligible. Check your own plan.
HipTrain is built around one thing: scheduled live 1-on-1 video sessions with the same coach every time. Coaches are vetted and certified, and specialties include strength, functional training, mobility, Pilates, stretching and rehab training. No gym or equipment needed. It works on the web, iPhone and Android, you can reschedule in the app, and you can chat with your coach between sessions. If a coach isn't a fit, we rematch you.
Prices: 30-minute sessions cost $59.49/mo (once a week), $119.99/mo (twice) or $179.99/mo (three times), about $14 a session. 60-minute sessions cost $109.99, $219.99 or $319.99 a month, about $25 a session. Your first session is free, no credit card needed, and HipTrain is HSA / FSA eligible. A Google reviewer wrote: "Angel is great at adapting exercises to my needs." (Emma S.)
Best for: anyone who wants live, same-coach sessions one to three times a week at the lowest price on this list.
Echelon Coach, formerly FlexIt, offers live 1-on-1 video training. It lists $36 to $40 per 30 minutes and $72 to $80 per 60 minutes, with packs from about $30.60. The first session is free or $5. Garage Gym Reviews named FlexIt its "Best Live Training" pick. HSA / FSA eligibility is not published.
Best for: people who'd rather buy sessions than sign up for a monthly plan. Our side-by-side is at HipTrain vs Echelon Coach.
Bespoke Fit offers live 1-on-1 video training with unlimited sessions, and it caps each coach at 12 clients. Its price is $49 for the first month, then $299/mo. If you train four times a week, that works out to about $19 a session. Session length and HSA / FSA eligibility are not published in our sources.
This is a case where a competitor can beat us on price. If you'll really train four or more times a week, Bespoke Fit's unlimited plan can cost less per session than HipTrain's 60-minute sessions (about $25). If you train one to three times a week, HipTrain's 30-minute plans cost less.
Best for: very committed people who want live sessions most days of the week.
Mywowfit runs live 1-on-1 sessions on Zoom. It offers a $10 trial, then charges $25 or more a session. Session length and HSA / FSA eligibility are not published in our sources.
Best for: people comfortable on Zoom who want to try live training for a small fee before committing.
FORME offers live 1-on-1 video training, with hardware as an option. The price is $49 for the first month, then $399/mo for four 60-minute sessions, about $100 a session. Trial terms and HSA / FSA eligibility are not published in our sources.
Best for: people who want a premium live plan and don't mind paying more per session.
Kickoff is not live workout training in the same way. Your coach is both a dietitian and a trainer, and you get a weekly video call plus daily texts. Kickoff says it's "$0 out-of-pocket" through insurance with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield and 100+ other plans. Self-pay is $250/mo, about $60 a week. It has a coach-swap guarantee.
Best for: people whose insurance is accepted, or who want food and exercise coaching together. HipTrain doesn't offer nutrition coaching. See HipTrain vs Kickoff.
Fyt (findyourtrainer.com) is a marketplace for in-home, in-gym and virtual trainers, with virtual sessions from $29, per a review on Reviewed. When we checked on October 3, 2026, its website did not load, so we left it off the list.
Future and Trainwell are popular, but they're mostly app-based, so they aren't ranked here. If a coach-built plan you follow on your own time sounds better than a live call, read HipTrain vs Future, HipTrain vs Trainwell or our broader best online personal training guide.
Where HipTrain isn't the right fit. We're a small company. Our iOS app has 29 ratings, and our featured coach roster is a handful of people, not hundreds. Every session happens at a set time on camera, so if you want fully self-paced workouts, an app fits better. We don't offer nutrition coaching, insurance billing, in-person sessions or a big library of on-demand workouts.
A certified coach who trains you over a live video call at a scheduled time. They watch your form, adjust exercises and keep you on track, just like in a gym, but from home.
Not mainly. Future does not advertise live sessions; it coaches through app workouts and texting. Trainwell is mostly app-based, with some calls.
On this list, from about $14 a session (HipTrain, 30 minutes) to about $100 a session (FORME). A typical in-person trainer costs $75+ a session. See online vs in-person training.
Not for HipTrain. You don't need a gym or any equipment, and you can train from home, the office or the road.
HipTrain is HSA / FSA eligible. For the other live services here, eligibility is not published. Always check your own plan.
