Both offer live 1-on-1 video training. FORME pairs it with smart home gyms and a bigger monthly plan. Here is how to choose.
Full disclosure: HipTrain wrote this page, and we're one of the two options on it. So yes, we're biased. We've kept every fact about FORME to what FORME publishes, with sources at the end.
FORME and HipTrain are close cousins: both offer live, 1-on-1 personal training over video. Choose FORME if you want weekly live sessions bundled with daily trainer contact, custom plans and on-demand classes, or you want one of its smart home gyms. Choose HipTrain if you want live sessions more often for less per session, with no hardware. FORME lists $399 a month after a $49 first month. HipTrain starts at $59.49 a month (about $14 a session).
HipTrain is live personal training over video. You answer a two-minute questionnaire, and we match you with a coach who fits your goals and calendar. Many people go from sign-up to a first session in under a day.
At the time you booked, your coach meets you on video, watches your form, and adjusts as you go. It's the same coach every session, and if it isn't a fit, we rematch you. No equipment is needed. You can join from a phone, tablet or computer, chat with your coach between sessions, and reschedule anytime.
"I've been training with Damian for 2 months now and the results are nothing short of extraordinary. We're doing 3 sessions of 30 minutes per week." (Felicia B., Google review)
FORME offers live, 1-on-1 personal training through its app. Its site describes "Weekly live, 1-on-1 sessions with your trainer" and a "Custom workout plan each week," plus on-demand classes. It also mentions golf fitness with TPI-certified trainers and nutrition and sleep coaching options. You don't need FORME hardware: FORME says you can "Train anywhere with the FORME app."
FORME's site lists "$49 first month | $399/mo thereafter." The first month includes a 60-minute intro session and four 60-minute live 1-on-1 sessions. In other places the site shows "$149/mo," and it isn't clear to us which plan that covers, so ask FORME before you join. FORME also sells two smart home gyms, the FORME Studio and the FORME Lift (up to 200 pounds of digital resistance), but doesn't list their prices on its site. FORME is owned by Interactive Strength, Inc.
Here's the monthly math using published prices.
For one 60-minute live session a week, we charge $109.99 a month and FORME lists $399. That's about $289 a month apart, or about $3,468 a year. Even our 3-a-week, 60-minute plan ($319.99) costs less than FORME's listed monthly price. To be fair, FORME's price also covers daily trainer contact, custom plans and on-demand classes. See every plan in our pricing section.
We'd rather you pick the right thing than pick us. Like FORME, we ask you to show up live at a set time. Unlike FORME, we don't advertise nutrition or sleep coaching, a big on-demand library, or smart gym hardware, and we don't offer in-person sessions. Our coach roster is small, and our 29 App Store ratings are a small sample, much like FORME's.
Yes. As of October 2026, FORME's site is selling memberships, and the FORME app is on the App Store. FORME's site lists Interactive Strength, Inc. as its owner.
No. FORME says you can train with your trainer in the FORME app. HipTrain also needs no equipment.
HipTrain's first session is free, with no card. FORME's first month is $49 and includes an intro session plus four live sessions, and FORME says you can try it "risk-free for 30 days."
HipTrain. Our plans run $59.49 to $319.99 a month. FORME lists $399 a month after the first month. For other live options, see live online personal trainers and HipTrain vs Echelon Coach.
